While visiting  Spain last week we discovered all sorts of cool and fun places we would like to share with our readers as follows:

—  We simply fell in love with artist, graphic designer and adjunct professor Eva Solano and her studio.

—   Lots of Spanish moms adore the latest collection from Carolina Herrera children’s clothing line. Best bet: You don’t have to fly all the way over to Spain to buy her gorgeous children’s collection.  Currently there is only one store location in the United States to find her gorgeous children’s line of clothes: Click here for more details.

 – Have you ever seen or heard about a Yatoo supermarket located in several  Metro stops in and around Spain?   This self-contained refrigerated cum laude grocery store has everything a family could ever need while out on the town. Someone even whispered in our ear that the metro shop once stocked diapers!!!  Can you recognize what else they sell here?

Note: We are sharing with AFAR.com and the inflight magazine for Vueling Airlines entitled, Ling magazine.

P.S. Plan on flying around Europe over the summer during the London Olympics? Be sure to check out the Spanish airline, Vueling.  This airline is one of the fastest growing low cost airlines in Europe right now.

– And last but not least get ready for your summer air travel plans.

Travelers can expect U. S. airlines’ planes to be full this summer as a record number of people take international flights, the industry association Airlines for America reported. The group predicts that 26.8 million people will travel on international flights, surpassing last summer’s record of 26.3 million passengers. At the same time, airlines are holding down the number of seats they make available to try to meet the number of fliers. As a result, planes will be packed pretty much daily.  *** USA TODAY Friday, May 11, 2012

P. P. S. And the countdown to the London Olympics began with the kindling of the Games torch by the sun’s rays in ancient Olympia last Thursday, May 10. The relay is off and running now. And the journey will  end with the lighting of the Olympic stadium’s caldron at the opening ceremony on July 27th.

BRUSSELS, Belgium –  The quintessentially British brand Hackett has been flying the Union Jack high internationally for many years and so it is fitting that in this, a Jubilee year, Her Majesty The Queen has honoured Hackett with a 2012  Queen’s Award for Enterprise in International Trade.   The Award is approved by Her Majesty, on the recommendation of the UK Prime Minister and the official announcement is made on The Queen’s birthday, 21st April 2012.

What does this mean for folks like you and me?  Don’t even think about leaving London this summer while visiting the Olympic games without taking back home a Hackett sports shirt in hand. And a Michael Morpurgo, winner of several prestigious awards — The Whitbread Children’s Book Award, The Smarties Prize, and Prix Sorcieres to name just a few —  book wouldn’t be bad either to pack away.  Another reason to become a Michael Morpurgo fan:  He wrote the story concept for Wenlock and Mandeville the official mascots for the 2012 Summer Olympics and Paralymics Games.

AMSTERDAM, Holland — This past Monday, April 30 just about everyone in the Netherlands ( including your stepmother) celebrates Queen’s Day.  Literally thousands of people, mostly in Amsterdam, are dressed in the color orange ( national color of Holland) and flock to the streets to celebrate the birthday of their Queen, Beatrix.

There are parades, craft shows, flea markets, children’s parties, and live street theatre.  And of course, what’s a birthday without a fireworks display?  Be sure to book hotel stays well in advance.
